Lachlan’s Line Bridge

Complex, Unique and One of a Kind are just a few descriptions of Lachlan’s Line 178metre, $40 million dollar Cycle and Pedestrian Bridge in Macquarie Park, NSW. The helix-shaped bridge design is an important piece of infrastructure. This bridge will give the 5,000 Lachlan’s Line residents safe access to the North Ryde train station, therefore helping to reduce their reliance on cars. Design combination of form, texture, space, colour and motion attempts to create an introverted experience for the users as if walking through a sculpture.

Lachlan’s Line Bridge – New approach to bridge design!

The blue colour of the structure reflects the cool hues of the nearby buildings. In order to soften the harsh surrounding environment for bridge users and to extend the concept of greening across the bridge, hanging gardens will be introduced in resting places. The complex design required innovative fabrication and construction methods, marking a new approach to advanced steel manufacturing in Australia. The design and construct contract was awarded to a joint venture between Arenco (NSW) and the Daracon Group at Beresfield, NSW, with Western Sydney-based steel fabricator S&L Steel being sub-contracted for the fabrication work.

Lachlan’s Line Bridge | Australian Scaffolds | Quality Service

Australian Scaffolds Service Department is proud to be involved in the construction of this complex bridge construction. Our Service team supplied, designed, constructed and installed the Scaffold required for the safe placement of the bridge. Having at least 10 team members work throughout the night on a number of occasions.

Australian Scaffolds Service team constructed the required scaffold on-site at our Riverstone NSW warehouse and then had it delivered to the Lachlan’s Line location via semi-trailer. The scaffold was then manoeuvred and craned into place ready for the placement of the bridge sections.

Comments made by our Service Manager, Daniel Butlin,” extremely pleased with how the entire process was completed safely and on time”.

Craneable Scaffolding

Craneable stair towers and facade scaffolds significantly reduce labour and other onsite costs. The fact is, man-hours in any project will be the largest cost to and pose the greatest risk to the successful outcome of the project. With decades of experience, Australian Scaffolds & Access is a specialist in making complex  – simple. To find out more about the Australian Scaffold Advantage call 1300 919 905.
